The Good Samaritan Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language. One day, an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. He asked, 'Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?'
Jesus answered, 'What is written in the law? How do you understand it?'
The man replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. Also, love your neighbor as you love yourself.'
Jesus said, 'You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live.'
But the man wanted to make himself look good. So he asked Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?'
Jesus told him a story. He said, 'A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. On the way, robbers attacked him. They tore off his clothes and beat him. Then they left him lying on the ground, almost dead.'
'A priest happened to be going down that same road. When he saw the hurt man, he walked by on the other side. He did not help.'
'Then a Levite came to that place. A Levite was a man who helped in the temple. When he saw the hurt man, he also walked by on the other side. He did not help.'
'Then a Samaritan man came traveling down the road. He came to where the hurt man was lying. When he saw him, he felt very sorry for him.'
'The Samaritan went to the man. He poured olive oil and wine on his wounds to heal them. He put bandages on them. Then he put the man on his own donkey. He took him to an inn and took care of him.'
'The next day, the Samaritan took out two silver coins. He gave them to the innkeeper. He said, 'Take care of this man. If you spend more than this on him, I will pay you back when I come again.''
Then Jesus asked, 'Which one of these three men do you think was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by robbers?'
The expert in the law answered, 'The one who showed him mercy.'
Jesus said to him, 'Go and do the same.'
In Jesus' time, Jews and Samaritans did not like each other. They never spoke to each other. But Jesus made the Samaritan the hero of the story. The religious men who were supposed to help did nothing. The man from the hated group was the one who showed love.
This story teaches us to love everyone, even people we do not like. Our neighbor is anyone who needs our help. God wants us to show mercy and kindness to everyone, no matter who they are.
