Nimrod and Early Kingdoms Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language. After the flood, Noah's sons had many children. The whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
They said to each other, 'Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly.' They used brick instead of stone. They used tar for mortar. Then they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city. Let us build a tower that reaches to the heavens. We will make a name for ourselves. Then we will not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.'
But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, 'If they have begun to do this as one people speaking the same language, nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language. Then they will not understand each other.'
So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth. They stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel. That name sounds like the Hebrew word for 'confused.' There the Lord confused the language of the whole world.
One of the descendants of Ham was a man named Nimrod. Nimrod was a mighty hunter before the Lord. That is why people say, 'Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.' The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Uruk, Akkad, and Kalneh. These were in Shinar. From that land he went to Assyria. There he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, and Resen. Resen is between Nineveh and Calah. It is the great city.
Nimrod was a powerful ruler. He built great cities and established kingdoms. His name became famous. People remembered him as a strong leader. But Nimrod's kingdom was built by human strength, not by trusting God. The story of the Tower of Babel shows what happens when people try to make themselves great without God. They become confused and scattered.
After the languages were confused, people moved to different lands. They formed different nations. The sons of Japheth became the people who lived in the coastlands. The sons of Ham became the people of Canaan, Egypt, and other lands. The sons of Shem became the people of Mesopotamia and Arabia.
These were the clans of Noah's sons. They spread out into different nations. They became many different peoples with many different languages. This happened according to their families and nations.
From these, the peoples of the earth were scattered. They spread out after the flood. God had told people to fill the earth. They tried to stay together in one place. But God scattered them so they would obey his command. He made many nations from one family. He is the Lord over all the earth. Every nation and every language belongs to him.
