Flight to Egypt Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language. After the wise men had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. The angel said, 'Get up. Take the child and his mother. Escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to come back. Herod is going to search for the child. He wants to kill him.'
So Joseph got up. He took the child and his mother during the night. They left for Egypt. They stayed there until Herod died. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet. The prophet had said, 'Out of Egypt I called my son.'
When Herod realized that the wise men had tricked him, he was furious. He gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under. This was in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men. Then what the prophet Jeremiah had said came true. Jeremiah had said, 'A voice is heard in Ramah. It is the sound of weeping and great mourning. Rachel is crying for her children. She refuses to be comforted. Their children are no more.'
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt. The angel said, 'Get up. Take the child and his mother. Go to the land of Israel. Those who were trying to take the child's life are dead.'
So Joseph got up. He took the child and his mother. They went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee. He went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets. It was said that he would be called a Nazarene.
Jesus was just a baby when his family had to flee to Egypt. King Herod was jealous and afraid. He did not want anyone else to be king. He was willing to kill innocent babies to protect his own power. But God protected Jesus. He warned Joseph in a dream. Joseph obeyed immediately. He took Mary and Jesus and left in the night.
They went to Egypt. Egypt had once been a place of slavery for God's people. Now it became a place of safety for God's Son. They stayed there until Herod died. Then they returned to Israel. They settled in Nazareth, a town in Galilee. This is why Jesus is called Jesus of Nazareth.
God protected his Son because Jesus had an important mission. He had come to save the world from sin. No king or army could stop God's plan. God watches over his children. He protects them and guides them. He knows the future. He leads us in the way we should go. Even when things seem hard and scary, God is working out his good plan.
