David and Goliath Story - Bible
Send Wishes with Message Magic in Your Language. The Philistine army gathered to fight against the army of Israel. They camped on one hill, and the Israelites camped on the opposite hill. A valley was between them.
From the Philistine camp came a giant named Goliath. He was from the city of Gath. Goliath was over nine feet tall! He wore a bronze helmet on his head and a heavy coat of chain mail armor. The armor weighed over one hundred pounds. He wore bronze protectors on his legs and carried a bronze javelin on his back. His spear was as big as a weaver's rod, and the iron point weighed fifteen pounds. A large man walked in front of him carrying his huge shield.
Goliath shouted to the Israelite army, 'Why have you come out to fight? Choose a man to fight me. If he can kill me, we will become your servants. But if I kill him, you will become our servants. Today I dare you to send a man to fight me!'
Saul and all the Israelites were terrified when they heard Goliath's words. For forty days, the giant came out every morning and evening. He kept shouting and making fun of the army of the living God.
David was a young boy. He was not a soldier. He took care of his father's sheep. David's three older brothers were in Saul's army. One day, David's father told him, 'Take this grain and these ten loaves of bread to your brothers. Bring back news from them.'
David ran to the Israelite camp. He saw the army shouting their battle cry. Then Goliath came out and shouted his usual words. David heard him. The Israelite soldiers ran away in fear.
David asked, 'Who does this Philistine think he is? He is making fun of the army of the living God! Someone should fight him!'
David's oldest brother heard him and became angry. 'Why did you come down here? I know how proud you are. You just want to watch the battle!'
But David did not give up. When King Saul heard what David said, he sent for him. David told Saul, 'Don't let anyone lose hope because of this giant. I will go and fight him!'
Saul said, 'You can't go fight him. You are only a boy. Goliath has been a soldier since he was young.'
David said, 'I take care of my father's sheep. When a lion or a bear comes and takes a lamb from the flock, I go after it. I hit it and save the lamb. If the lion turns on me, I grab it by its hair and kill it. I have killed lions and bears. This Philistine will be like one of them. The Lord who saved me from the lion and the bear will save me from this giant.'
Saul said, 'Go, and may the Lord be with you.'
Saul tried to put his own armor on David. He put a bronze helmet on David's head and a heavy coat of armor. But David had never worn armor before. He could not walk in them. He said, 'I cannot wear these. I am not used to them.'
David took off the armor. He picked up his shepherd's staff. He chose five smooth stones from a stream and put them in his shepherd's bag. He took his sling in his hand and went to fight Goliath.
Goliath looked at David and laughed. 'Am I a dog that you come to me with a stick? Come here, and I will feed your body to the birds!'
David said, 'You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's Armies. Today the Lord will hand you over to me. I will kill you and cut off your head. Everyone will know that the Lord does not need swords or spears to save His people. The battle belongs to the Lord!'
Goliath moved closer to attack David. David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. He reached into his bag and took out a stone. He put it in his sling and swung it around. He let the stone fly!
The stone hit Goliath right in the middle of his forehead. The giant fell face down on the ground. David had defeated the giant without a sword or armor. He ran and stood over Goliath. He took Goliath's own sword and cut off his head.
When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they ran away. The Israelite army chased them and won a great victory.
David became a hero that day. He grew up to become the greatest king of Israel. David knew that the battle belongs to the Lord. With God on your side, even the biggest giants can fall!
